Cash Money Pokergammon

An exiting backgammon money game played with poker chips!

Cash Money Pokergammon is a unique backgammon money game played with poker chips, structured tournament-style with escalating stakes. Players compete in heads-up, one-on-one games, betting chips based on the cube's value, aiming to build the biggest stack over several rounds. A truly exciting variant with continual play that combines elements of poker and backgammon.

CJ and Michael Cashman of the Twin Cities Backgammon Club developed the rules with inspiration and assistance from Mochy (Masayuki  Mochizuki). This event has quickly become a local favorite!  After experiencing the excitement firsthand, we're thrilled to bring Cash Money Pokergammon to the Viking Classic. Join us for a blend of strategic gameplay and thrilling competition unlike any other!

​How to Play:

1. Entry: Players start with 10 chips for $50, plus a $10 entry fee. 

2. Rounds: Play 7 rounds of random matchups against different opponents each round. Each round lasts for 30 minutes or 5 games, whichever comes first.

3. Chips:  Winners collect chips from their opponents after each game, based on cube value. Gammons and Backgammons count as long as the cube is turned (Jacoby rule). Keep playing as long as you have chips left in your stack.

4. Rebuys: Rebuys or top-ups are allowed between rounds — until round 6. Top up your stack to a limit of 10 total chips at $5 per chip, giving you another chance to stay in the game.

5. Cube Value: The starting value of the cube increases as the rounds progress. 

6. Win: Winners are paid out based on the total number of chips they have at the end of round 7, with chip value proportionate to the number of players entered plus rebuys.
